Treatment for gassing in the intestine

Gaseous formation in the intestines: causes and treatment

Gaseous formation in the intestine, whose causes are not known to everyone, brings a lot of inconvenience to people. After all during a meteorism the person can test strong enough pricking pains in an umbilical area. In addition, such a frequent phenomenon indicates that the gastrointestinal tract is functioning unstably and, possibly, has any serious illnesses.

Why does flatulence occur?

In medical practice, flatulence is divided into the following types:

This phenomenon arises from the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. So, fermentation appears as a result of banal ingestion of air or after using certain types of products.

Gaseous formation in the intestine: causes of digestive flatulence

This phenomenon occurs against the background of an insufficient number of enzymes or because of problems associated with the circulation of bile. In other words, the food that enters the body does not completely break down, forming products of decay, including gases.

Gaseous formation in the intestine: causes of mechanical flatulence

This type of formation of gases is associated with the fact that in the intestinal tract of a person there are any mechanical disorders that lead to the malfunctioning of this organ. For example, various tumors, stenoses, adhesions, etc.

Other causes of flatulence

  1. Strong gas formation in the intestine can disturb a person due to a violation of microflora in this organ. After all, if there are too many bacteria in the small intestine, this provokes splitting of food in its upper parts, which, in turn, contributes to increased gas production. At the same time, in the lower parts of the small intestine, the decay of food remains can also occur, and this is also accompanied by the release of gases.
  2. Another cause of flatulence may act as a dynamic disorder of the intestine. Typically, this phenomenon occurs after surgery, as well as due to intoxication or peritonitis.

How to get rid of flatulence?

Treatment of gas formation in the intestine should be complex. However, in the first place, the doctor must identify the true cause of this phenomenon. By the way, quite often there are several of them. Thus, the treatment of flatulence reduces to the following:

  1. Compliance with diet. The patient should abandon all those products that cause gas formation (legumes, cabbage, apples, beer, rye bread, radish, etc.).
  2. The use of absorbent drugs. These include black or white activated carbon, Polyphepan, Smecta and Entegnine.
  3. Application of defoamers. These drugs include Espumizan, Disflatil and Meteopazmil.
  4. Also doctors can prescribe from increased gas formation such folk carminative means as chamomile flowers, caraway seeds, fennel oil, etc.

Flatulence - a feeling of fullness of the abdominal cavity with gases, is just a symptom that can manifest itself in a number of different diseases, this is the result of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, and the result of surgical operations on the abdominal cavity, and finally, just the result overeating. The starting point of flatulence can also serve as stress. This symptom is accompanied by the release of gases, a sense of discomfort, and belching.

It is accepted to distinguish the following forms of flatulence:

1. Alimentary (that is, food) - there is such a flatulence on the basis of abundant consumption of foods rich in fiber and starch products

2. Flatulence, appearing on the basis of disturbances in the processes of digestion.

3. Mechanical flatulence - with a mechanical violation of the evacuation function of the gastrointestinal tract.

4. Flatulence of dynamic origin - in violation of motor activity of the gastrointestinal tract.

5. Circulatory flatulence - it develops with general and local circulatory disorders.

6. Psychogenic flatulence - occurs in such a state as hysteria.

Flatulence reflects the slow mobility of the intestine, which prevents the passage of gases through it, excessive ingestion of air (aerophagia), which is often caused stress, or increased release of gases in the intestine due to an overabundance of enzymatic substrates such as, for example, digested, unabsorbed carbohydrates and proteins.

Among the causes of flatulence, of course, the main are diseases of the digestive system, which are worth noting:

Cholecystitis, including calculous cholecystitis - flatulence and eructation with it is very characteristic.

Cirrhosis of the liver - in the early stages of cirrhosis, flatulence is common, and it can also be accompanied by a loss appetite, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, pain in the right upper quadrant, enlargement of the liver and the spleen.

Cancer of the large intestine - the obstruction of the large intestine because of the tumor can also cause flatulence. Acute obstruction causes bloating and tympanic percussion sound. Multiple polyps in the intestines are also a source of obstruction and gas formation.

Crohn's disease - with this disease, flatulence is also quite a frequent symptom, along with diarrhea, nausea, pain in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen.

Flatulence with excess venting and eructation is characteristic of irritable bowel syndrome, and a syndrome of poor absorption.

Operations for intestinal obstruction are not always required and for the beginning it is worth trying to solve the problem in other ways.

To facilitate the release of the patient's gases, it is recommended to lay on the left side, and then often change the position of the body if there is no contraindication for this. It is also necessary to move more and normalize the intake of liquids. If this proves to be insufficient, then an enema should be put, it is also possible to use rectal suppositories, and drugs that normalize the motor function of the intestine. These drugs, which also have antiemetic and antineoplastic effects, include cerukal or metoclopamide, which can be used both in injectable forms and in tablets.

In addition to medicamentous agents in meteorism, medicinal plants with a so-called carminative effect can also be used. This - mint, dill, anise, fennel, basil. Normalize the movement of the intestine watch three-leaved, lemon balm, tansy, dandelion, parsley, cumin, yarrow. All these plants can be used in the form of teas, infusions and decoctions.

In aromatherapy, a carminative remedy is the essential oil of coriander, dill and fennel. Cumin oil is an excellent remedy for flatulence and pain in the intestine: mix 3 drops of cumin oil with 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil and after eating gently rub into the abdomen.
