It is generally believed that the ideal weight of a person is the one he had at the age of 18. If you can easily save it in fifty years, you can safely consider yourself lucky. Because every 10 years of energy consumption of our body is reduced by approximately 10%, i.е. at a rate of 1% every year.
Therefore every ten years we become heavier by about 10% of the previous weight. If you let things slide, then at your age of 29 you will weigh 10% more than 18, 40 at 10% more than 29, and 50 at 10% more than 40.

Therefore, Brock's old formula was refined to make the results more realistic. To now calculate the optimal weight for this formula, it is necessary to take 100 from the growth of a man and multiply the result by 90%. Take for example a man of 176 cm and calculate his normal weight: 176 -100 = 76 x 90% = 68 kg.
However, even with the modern adjustment, Brock's method ignores the individual features of the structure of the human body.
Therefore, today the body mass index (BMI) is considered the standard by definition of the weight norm for men.
This is the indicator that most often appears in health insurance policies.
The index is calculated as the ratio of the person's weight, measured in kilograms and his height, measured in meters with two decimal places and squared. If, as a result of such calculations, the BMI is 18 units or less, this indicates a lack of weight, but if it is 28 units or more, this indicates an overweight. The results of a BMI of 19 to 27 units indicate a normal weight.
